PROFIBUS

PROFIBUS is an independent and open fieldbus standard for a wide range of applications
in the fields of manufacturing, processing and building automation.
The protocol, which is standardized according to EN 50170, is particularly suitable
for fast and complex communication. By means of application-specific profiles,
PROFIBUS can be used for virtually all tasks and therefore offers a high degree of
availability and investment protection.

PROFIBUS DP has been specifically developed for communication between automation systems
and decentralized peripheries (DP). The profile is optimized as regards speed, efficiency
and low connection costs. PROFIBUS DP is the ideal solution for standard 24 V
data transfer in the manufacturing industry.

PROFIBUS PA has been designed for process automation applications.
It allows for the connection of sensors and actuators located in areas
where there is a risk of explosion.

PROFIBUS PA caters for data communication and power supply over a
joint bus using 2-wire technology according to the international IEC 1158-2 standard.
PROFIBUS PA has been developed in close cooperation with users in the processing industry (NAMUR).
